On this week’s edition of the Celebrity Real Estate Roundup, we remember the legacy of one of pop music’s most inspiring voices: Whitney Houston. Whitney passed away on Saturday at the age of 48 and this past week has been spent honoring her memory and revisiting all of the great music she left behind.
In addition to her countless #1 hits and moving performances, she has also left behind some real estate, including a 12,600 square foot mansion in the upscale suburb of Mendham Township, New Jersey, just about a half-hour drive from Movers.com headquarters. The house is nestled in the woods on the side of a road that runs through the town, a town that New Jersey governor Chris Christie also calls home.
Houston originally placed the home up for sale in 2009 when it was first listed at $2.5 million, however the price has come down somewhat, as the property is currently listed at $1.75 million. The contemporary home was featured on the Bravo reality series “Being Bobby Brown” back when the couple was still married.
If you are hoping to own a piece of history and move into the home that belonged to a pop diva legend, you better have money. As of right now, the house is only being show to pre-approved buyers who have shown that they have at least $1.5 million in liquid assets, which has been done to discourage the likely wave of “prospective buyers” who are really just hoping for a tour of the star’s former home and aren’t serious about actually purchasing it.
