Celebrity journalist Jawn Murray set to make his co-hosting debut on 'The View'

One of the DMV's own, celebrity journalist Jawn Murray has scored a prestigious guest co-host gig. The pop culture commentator and Editor of AlwaysAList.com, will make his co-hosting debut on ABC’s “The View” on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 (live at 11:00 a.m. ET). The announcement was made today, April 18.

Murray will guest co-host alongside “The View” hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters and Jenny McCarthy for a special episode to celebrate the birthday of co-host and friend Sherri Shepherd.

Jawn Murray is a veteran entertainment journalist, lifestyle reporter and pop culture commentator. He’s been named by Ebony Magazine as one of the “30 on the Rise” to watch in the industry, and the NAACP recognized him as one of “40 Power Players Under 40.” Before launching his own entertainment and lifestyle website AlwaysAList.com, Murray spent seven years as a columnist for AOL Black Voices.

On radio, he spent five years offering entertainment coverage on the nationally syndicated “Tom Joyner Morning Show.”

On TV, he's become a regular contributor on networks like CNN, HLN, TV One, MSNBC, and Fusion TV; and has also appeared on international networks like BBC UK, Canada’s Sun News and Dutch TV. Murray has also been featured on NBC’s “Today Show,” “Access Hollywood,” VH1, “News One Now with Roland Martin,” E!’s “True Hollywood Story,” "The Wendy Williams Show" and “Our World with Black Enterprise.”

In 2011 Murray partnered with EMI Gospel for a digital music competition called "Untapped." He then executive produced the partnering compilation CD titled, "Jawn Murray presents Untapped" that was released in September of 2011. He also worked as a casting judge for the last five seasons of BET's "Sunday Best."
