Have you ever wondered how the other half lives? The real estate news writers at Forbes magazine appear to be more than happy to tell you. The world-famous publication compiled a list of luxury estates for sale in an article titled "Expensive Celebrity Homes For Sale" published on Dec. 11, 2012. In it, they included a special feature section about celebrity seniors Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell selling their famous Bali design inspired beachfront property.
While housing market prices have fallen across the country, celebrity homes still seem to be holding their value, at least when it comes to asking price. Movie stars Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn (actress Kate Hudson's famous mom) were mentioned by name in Forbes magazine for selling their celebrity property. Located in Malibu, the asking price for their luxury property is a cool $9.95 million -- quite a hefty price tag even for the swanky Broad Beach Road area where it is located, really.
According to photos posted on Trulia, the Bali style beach home is decorated like an Asian influenced paradise. Seeing pictures of the house, it is clear why Goldie and Kurt have been able to rent the place out for such a high price tag in the past. It is like a vacationer's exotic dream -- a paradise hidden right along Pacific coastline of the United States, hemmed in by a stunning sea of other celebrity properties.
Forbes says the home has been rented out many times during the duration of their ownership to other Hollywood insiders and high rollers for as much as $80,000 per month. So why are they selling? The answer is most likely simple really. The real estate market is rebounding right now -- and like the home, the celebrity couple is aging.
While actress Goldie Hawn might be a low maintenance girl herself (like her famous "Glee" actress daughter Kate Hudson says), keeping up such a high maintenance property [especially as celebrity seniors] can't be all that easy. To that end, if Kate does not care to inherit the property some day for her own growing family to enjoy, then downsizing at this time and banking the sales profits might just be the best thing for everybody.
The following list of Hollywood stars who are selling their mega-mansions and private estates boasts an impressive array of names of A-list elites. Other star celebs' homes for sale mentioned in the original article included singer 50 Cent's mansion still being for sale in Connecticut, the former estate of Rat-Pack icon Frank Sinatra in Chatsworth, California going on the market, and "Boardwalk Empire" producer Mark Wahlberg's place in Beverly Hills being listed.
