Sad Celebrity Death News --
Comedian Greg Giraldo died September 29th, 2010 after complications from a prescription drug overdose. The New York celebrity had been in town to participate in a month-long public awareness rally promoting drug addiction recovery. Ironically, Giraldo was found unconscious and remained non responsive at an alleged wild party in his New Jersey hotel room (commercial real estate) following his initial performance at one part of the charity event function.
Celebrity gossip website Telegraph UK revealed:
His death is believed to have been caused by complications resulting from the overdose, which is not thought to have been a suicide attempt.
Producers for the NBC TV show Last Comic Standing, on which Giraldo was a judge, confirmed that he had died in New York last night.
A statement said: "Greg was one of the most talented comedians of our time. He was truly brilliant. His work will surely continue to influence and inspire us. We will miss our friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."
Telegraph points out that Giraldo, who was divorced, was known for his stand-up routines and his "celebrity roasts" on Comedy Central in which he lampooned the likes of cult hero David Hasselhoff, women's role model and legendary female comedienne Joan Rivers and green celebrity animal rights activist and vegan Pamela Anderson.
However, Giraldo had been a long time activist promoting alcohol addition recovery. A Generation X liberal with an open mind, he often spoke about health, social issues, disturbing trends in pop culture, and reminded us all that just because you are bright does not mean you can't have a campy sense of humor.
Giraldo, a resident New Yorker, was a graduate of the Harvard School of Law and was the child of immigrant parents. He was also the father of three young children.

funny man, sending prayers to his family & friends at this difficult time.
I am sorry about his death he looked very young.
Prayers obviously have done nothing for this world, ever. Don't pray, think.
He was one of the funniest people on earth...So sad. Prayers to his family and friends.
He was the most funniest comic on all those roast's! Im sad :( , He was a truely funny comic and he will be missed...
Damn i really like greg he was hilarious My prayers go out to his fam RIP Greg Giraldo
I found the majority of his comedy replusive, with no shame. He was the rudest, filthiest, and most obnoxious comic on those celebrity roasts and that's not easy. In so many cases he crossed the line by a mile.....Hopefully he had a moment to himself to ask for forgiveness.
I second the motion! He was one of the most foul, dosgusting "comics" that ever darkened the TV screen. He made people laugh, but it was humor that had zero redeeming social value. He mocked the retarded, obese children and the Catholic Church he supposedly belonged to. It would have been a lot better had he gone to Confession and said he was sorry. But instead the guilt, shame and pride got the best of him. What a waste. Pride cometh before the fall. And he fell all the way down.
All you people bad-mouthing a dead comic, tisk tisk. Now thats repulsive. Myself, i thought he was one of the funniest guys on those roast shows. maybe all you people who are taking the time to pass judgement on someone who wouldn't even care, should ask for forgiveness themselves... Roast in peace Greg
He was a comedian you d*#khead. Everyone knows what a roast is about, and Greg made them watchable. You obviously tuned in for all that "shamelessly repulsive filth." By the way, shitting on a dead man is probably not the classiest move on your part.
God Bless Greg Giraldo!

He was a comedian you self-righteous d*ckhead. Everybody knows what a roast is about, and Greg singlehandedly made them hilarious. You obviously tuned in for the “obnoxiously repulsive filth.” By the way, anonymously sh*tting on a dead man is probably not the classiest move on your part.
God Bless Greg Giraldo!

He died in NEW JERSEY, not NEW YORK. If you can't get a simple fact right, I wonder what else is wrong with the story.

He died in New Brunswick, NEW JERSEY. Last time I checked, New Jersey was not part of New York!
hey hedda hopper he didnt commit suicide.im sure you read the part of the story right,it was an accidentle overdose.he was a great comic and im sure hewas agreat freind to those who knew him od else they would not be doing a tribute to him.if you didnt like his veiws on life then you didnt have to listen to his stand up shows,or watch either.what you should be doing is celebrating who he was as a man.for he did not let people like you bring him down he just made people luagh,so if you dont like to luagh then i feel real sorry for you.to gregs family im sorry for your lose and will miss him as a human beign.he made me luagh.so i hope god will luagh at his jokes .may life be filled with luaghter and joy to all who had the honor of watching his show as i did 420 out
Anybody whose life is so pathetic they spend their time criticizing a recently deceiced man who brought more joy to people than the pope is a bonerfart.
Hey, why don't you take a break from talking to your cats, or whatever you do to make your life tolerable, and look up "comedian." Then ask yourself if Greg wasn't successful at his profession. If you think he really meant the things he said you're half-a-retard. In case you haven't noticed, on Earth, absurdly inappropriate things are what humans laugh at. We call them jokes. Lighten up and take some... they're super good for prudes.
Now he knows...............
Coincidentally just watched the roast of William Shatner tonight - a friend hadn't seen it so I was glad to watch it again - and Greg stood out among all the hilarious comedians. I then remembered reading a magazine piece years ago, highlighting the unusual career path he had taken from law to comedy. Decided to look him up online and just now found out that he's dead...so very sad. He was a brilliant and funny human being. I believe his death was accidental and not a suicide attempt. If there's any doors kept cracked just a bit open between this world and the next I'd like to shout out to Greg, "thanks". I hope I remember to always keep those I love here close.
Smell ya later greg...............RIP
he gets it..........
