What does a luxury cruise line have in common with high fashion? If it’s Celebrity Cruises it’s the first cruise line entry into the annual Style Week Orange Country. The seventh annual fashion fiesta runs at the Irvine Spectrum Center and The Market Place from September 10 through September 20 with fashion shows, in-store parties and trend presentations to celebrate the best in O.C. style. On Saturday Sept. 13, 2014 and Saturday Sept. 20, 2014, both at 7 p.m. at Fashion Island at Irvine Spectrum Centerwhere the cruise line will offer two runway design competitions challenging students from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) to create resort-wear gowns that evoke modern luxury. Cynthia Rose, Celebrity’s regional marketing manager, said, “The students were ecstatic about having Celebrity Cruises as their new design muse and left the kick off meeting truly inspired."
“FABULOUS!,” the theme for FIDM’s annual Fashion Museum gala will be a private, ticketed benefit that same evening with a private VIP reception area and seating for the runway shows, with bites and beverages from select Fashion Island restaurants as well as a silent auction.
Project Runway star and celebrity designer Nick Verreos will wrap up the Spectrum Collection Show at Irvine Spectrum Center. During the runway show where FIDM students will present resort wear inspired by Celebrity Cruises’ exotic destinations as part of the Celebrity Cruises Design Competition.
“We’re looking forward to an inspiring and fun-filled evening,” says Marilys Ward, team manager, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Orange County “And we are especially excited to be able to give these creative young designers an opportunity like this to display their talents.”
