American actress, singer, and songwriter Alicia Keys was given her own set of keys to a new Fisker Karma. The sexy automobile was a Christmas gift from her husband says Autoevolution. On Jan. 3, they shared the green exotic car news on their website, praising the songstress for her good taste in husbands and autos.
Fisker cars made big headline news after Hurricane Sandy. Their insurance company refused to pay out claims for water damaged vehicles, causing the company to lose a bundle on inventory says Motor Authority.
According to the source, "[Swizz] loving wife Alicia Keys woke up to a white Christmas this year, as their driveway was covered up by a brand new Fisker Karma electric vehicle. Not only that, but the model has been tricked out with large Forgiato wheels and a painted grille." As such, while her ride might appeal to tree huggers nationwide, it will also catch the eye of die-hard automotive enthusiasts when she drives by.
But the Fisker Karma is not the first car the music mogul has purchased for his environmentally conscious bride. They added, "Swizz has given new wheels to Alicia before, a brand new Lotus which she drove around New York if we remember correctly. However, this Fisker is both good-looking and environmentally friendly (well, sort of). It’s built with reclaimed wood and has no dead animal hides inside!"
Hopefully, the free publicity that will come from a New York based superstar driving one of their cars will help them offset the fiscal loss incurred when the super storm wiped out so much inventory. After all, when you have an "Empire State of Mind" like she does, she has to be interested in reducing auto emissions in a city environment even if she wants to keep a daily driver at her disposal -- and that kind of celebrity endorsement for a product has to be good for business.
