HISTORY OF BRET MICHAELS: GLAM ROCKER Q&A -- TRANSPORTATION NEWS FACTS AND FICTION
- Which East coast town was the rock band "Poison" originally from (Bret Michaels plays guitar and is the lead vocalist)? Mechanicsburg, PA. The band moved in 1984 to LA to make it big in Hollywood and defined the Heavy Metal Glam Rock Era on the rock music scene by the end of the decade.
- Did "Poison" ever drive 2,800 miles in an old ambulance? Yes. They arrived in Los Angeles in March of 1984. According to fansites that document the band's history, they tandem drove to Cali in an old ambulance and a Chevette.
- Which of their albums had a major cover change because Wal-mart said it was unacceptable? The original cover was an exotic looking woman completely painted in full body tiger make-up with a ring through her nose, fangs, and a foot long tongue portruding from her mouth. The cover that made it on the shelves was the same photo, but only the eyes of the woman. [Personally, we think this is no different from what you would see on a road trip to Asheville, North Carolina so we thought it was a funny detail worth sharing even though it is not TECHNICALLY related to exotic automobiles.]
- Does the band Poison really have their own race car? The strange news answer to this question is YES. The "Poison" car, a real race car, was featured in the July 28, 2002 "Winston Cup NASCAR Race". As this is a very unique, one of a kind, high speed vehicle -- it technically could be sold at auction someday with other unique exotics. As it is tied with celebrity Bret Michaels, at some point any memorabilia related to it could be worth serious collectors money -- but you won't make enough selling it now to by a new Ferrari or Lamborghini... and it's not likely to bring retirement money in the future either (but if you have fan merchandise, it will be advisable to hold on to it for historical value).
- When was Bret Michaels in a serious car accident? May 24th, 1994. According to police reports and the rock star, he passed out behind the wheel while driving his Ferrari.
