When celebrity actor Jeff Bridges announced on Wednesday Nov. 10 that he and his charity organization were joining forces with the charity organization Share Our Strength to end childhood hunger in five years, he also blitzed the media with several appearances on different outlets.
During an interview last night with NBC Niteside at the Four Seasons hotel in Los Angeles, celebrity actor Jeff Bridges revealed that President Barack Obama himself had been on a food stamp program at one point as a child.
The news certainly carried an element of shock value, and celebrity actor Jeff Bridges has been around long enough to understand certain comments can either help or hurt a campaign of this magnitude. Ending childhood hunger has been an initiative that celebrity actor Jeff Bridges has thrown his support behind for over 27 years now, so he fully understood the weight that his words would carry.
President Barack Obama has not yet commented on the claim made by celebrity actor Jeff Bridges, however Obama did make ending childhood hunger a priority during his 2008 presidential campaign.
According to the US Department of Agriculture, over 42 million Americans received food stamps in the month of August, a dramatic increase of 17 percent from the same period the prior year.
It is also estimated that some 17 million children in America suffer from hunger of some form, a number that celebrity actor Jeff Bridges and the Share Our Strength charity organization is focused on eliminating over the next five years.
