The White House Correspondents' Dinner weekend started off with a bang last night as Netflix & Google hosted a star-studded dinner party at the United States Institute of Peace.

Combining the perfect blend of celebrities, politics and press, the red carpet featured everyone from Robin Wright and Michael Kelly from Netflix's House of Cards to the majority of the cast of Scandal, minus Kerry Washington, who just had a baby.

But the showstopper on the red carpet was recent Academy Award winner, and People Magazine's Most Beautiful Woman, Lupita Nyong'o (wearing a dress by designer Bibhu Mohapatra), who bounded into 12 Years A Slave director Steve McQueen's arms when she spotted him at the end of the red carpet.

And as if the party needed to ramp up its cool factor any more, Roots' drummer Questlove arrived towards the end of the evening.

The final and biggest shindig of the weekend, The White House Correspondents' Dinner, will take place tonight at the Washington Hilton.
