Many used to think that knitting was old-fashioned and wouldn't bother because they found it more frustrating than relaxing. This doesn't seem to be the case any longer as several celebrities have taken to the relaxing craft brought on by fiber fever. In the slideshow attached is only just a few famous knitters.
This list of knitting celebrities is somewhat long. It includes both actors and actresses that have all been caught knitting for relaxation or for a just cause.
- Ryan Gosling- Ryan isn't just the star of all those cute knit and crochet memes all over the Internet, they were created when it was found that Ryan really knits . He says that he isn't very great at it but loves the relaxing quality.
- Julia Roberts- Julia Roberts has been a long time knitter. One of her most favorite patterns she even shared with McCalls Pattern Magazine. It was a striped turtleneck that everyone kept asking her about so she simply shared the pattern so that fans could make it themselves.
- David Arquette- David Arquette may not look like your average knitter, but he is a knitter for a cause. In fact, Arquette was featured on the cover of "Celebrity Scarves 2" for his pink scarf with long fringe for breast cancer awareness month.
- Scarlett Johansson- Scarlett knit a scarf in the movie "Lost in Translation" as part of her character that later turned found itself into the book "'Mother of Purl: Friends, Fun and Fabulous Designs at Hollywood's Knitting Circle."
- Deborah Messing- Deborah is said to be a fantastic knitter, but unfortunately she has a horrible allergy to wool. Any time Deborah wants to knit or purchase a piece of clothing it cannot have any wool at all otherwise she will break out in hives.
- Dakota Fanning- The "Twilight" star may sound like she is too young to knit, but kids are learning it younger and younger now. Dakota has reportedly knit scarves for several celebrities such as Robert De Niro, Oprah Winfrey, and Tom Cruise.
- Katherine Heigl- Katherine has been reported as being a huge knitter. She loves to knit so much that she says she is going to start knitting for her dogs.
