Celebrities support Robin Roberts after announcing her same-sex relationship

Robin Roberts has been a staple in the “Good Morning America” family for quite a few years. She has been private with her life, except where her health is concerned. Roberts shared her battle with cancer with the world and when she underwent a bone marrow transplant, she shared that as well. In a letter of appreciation, Robin Roberts thanked her long-time girlfriend for being by her side. According to a Dec. 30 report from USA Today, several stars are congratulating Roberts for talking about her same-sex relationship. Russell Simmons, Ellen DeGeneres, and First Lady Michelle Obama sent out messages for Robin Roberts.

Several of the “Good Morning America” fans had already assumed that Robin Roberts was gay. The rumors have been circulating for years. Roberts decided that reflecting on the year and years passed in anticipation of 2014 was necessary. Amber Laign and Roberts have been a couple for quite some time and she found it fitting to publicly thank her for standing by her side as she endured some very rough times.

The outpouring of love and support fans have shown Robin Roberts is a testament to how society is changing. Several other celebrities have commented on Roberts’ Facebook post through various areas of social media. One thing is clear, Roberts and Amber Laign are happy and very committed to one another.
