Founder, Jimmy Walker started Celebrity Fight Night in 1994 as a charity boxing match with former Phoenix Suns Charles Barkley and Dan Majerle. The two donned oversize boxing gloves and battled it out inside the ring for charity.

Today there is no boxing among the celebrities instead celebrities donate items that are auctioned off during the nights event, items such as musical instruments, sports memorabilia, concert tickets and so much more.

Sean Currie, executive director of Celebrity Fight Night said “We have a lot of people who come from the L.A. Hollywood celebrity world and they constantly tells us they can’t believe how much money our donor community gives and the kind of generosity in the room is something they never see in Los Angeles.”

Currie told me, “Our celebrities are so accessible in the room we don’t have them behind a red velvet rope where you have to look at them and take a picture from far away. We intentionally sit them at people’s tables so they can have dinner with the celebrities; it’s a part of the community feeling with our celebrities and guest. “

Besides the glitz and glamour, the Celebrity Fight Night organization addresses the serious issue of Parkinson’s disease whose primary benefactors are Muhammad Ali and the Parkinson center at Barrow Neurological Institute.

This year Celebrity Fight Night will be celebrating 20 years and has raised $87 million for Muhammad Ali’s Parkinson center and other charities. September 2014 will mark the first time Celebrity Fight Night will take place outside of Arizona in Florence, Italy.

On April 12, the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa in Phoenix will play host to this year’s event. Reba McEntire will be returning as emcee for her ninth consecutive year and singer Michael Buble, The Band Perry and Kenny Rogers will be performing.

Tickets start at $1,500 for individual and go up to $10,000. Tickets are on sale up till a few weeks of the event, for more information or to purchase tickets go to Celebrity Fight Night.
