Celebrities react on Twitter to the death of Robin Williams

Sad news came about on the evening of Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, as it was revealed that popular actor and comedian Robin Williams has died. He was loved by so many around the world, and celebrities knew him so well. Upon news of his death hitting mainstream media, celebs such as Steve Martin took to Twitter to express their grief and condolences.

Martin posted:

"I could not be more stunned by the loss of Robin Williams, mensch, great talent, acting partner, genuine soul."

In the very early afternoon on Monday, police arrived at Williams' home where he was found unconscious and not breathing. Shortly after their arrival, the police declared him dead. It is believed that he died by suicide due to asphyxia.

An investigation is still ongoing into the exact cause of Robin Williams' death, but the affection for the 63-year-old actor was immediate. Actors, sports stars, comedians, and more took to Twitter to express their sympathies and thoughts on the loss of Williams.
