Celebrities go green for Emmys 2014 and Big Brothers Big Sisters Los Angeles

Some of the celebrity guests on the green carpet included “Orange Is The New Black” stars Alysia Reiner and Madeline Brewer and TV Host AJ Gibson (“Hollywood Today Live”). Beau Bridges (“Masters of Sex”) also picked up a silk tie from Mark Roscoe, while Sam Richardson (“VEEP”) tasted rosé from Club W. And Elliot Gould (“Ray Donovan”) and Drew Scott (Property Brothers) were posing for photos in the celebrity pet lounge, which was very popular.

To draw attention to the honored cause, we interviewed Patti Johnson from Big Brothers Big Sisters Los Angeles. You can watch her describe their new campaign, #BeAMentor and Celebrity PSA that includes stars from “Glee” (Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison), “Modern Family” (Sofia Vergara, Ed O’Neill), “The New Normal” (Justin Bartha) and more in our VIDEO: Big Brothers Big Sisters LA at Emmys 2014 Celebration.

During this green event, Big Brothers Big Sisters Los Angeles asked celebrities hold up 1 of 3 signs with #BeAMentor and @BBBSLA: It Starts With You, Change a Child’s Life and Be a Mentor.

When we asked Patti Johnson, Director of Marketing at BBBSLA, what people can do to help, she shared, “There are 3 ways people can help. We’re always looking for volunteers to be a mentor, and that’s a commitment of 3-5 hours twice per month….We’re looking for people who can donate…The third is to advocate, become part of the campaign. Start your own sign, support us, hashtag #BeAMentor and tag us in whatever you’re doing that has to do with mentoring.”

Moving into the celebrity pet lounge, we checked out the calming The REIN Coat for pets and pet bed from Baylee Nasco. The Baylee Nasco pet beds are stuffed with recycled plastic, and they seemed very cozy.

Other featured brands included O.P.I. Nail Polish, Serengeti Eyewear sunglasses, VyPassetti Cake Pops designed in honor of the nominees, and HAI Styling Tools, and more.

Thank you Debbie Durkin for organizing this green celebration. And Big Congratulations to all the Emmy Award winners and nominees, especially "Breaking Bad" (Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, and Aaron Paul) on your sweep!
