Monday night, several Manhattan socialite dog owners were spotted at the Save the Eggs cocktail party fundraiser at BoConcept Chelsea, benefitting the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Jen Marden (owner of Blaze), who helped organize a fundraiser at Comix for the ASPCA last fall, was present, as was Celebrity Magician Matt Wayne, who has performed at charity events for BARC and Inky Blue Sea. One of the event co-chairs, Emma Snowdon-Jones (owner of Gibear), has also attended dog events for the Humane Society and the ASPCA in the past.
Save the Eggs, founded in 2008 by breast cancer survivor Tia Walker, raises money for breast cancer/fertility related organizations through fund raising and events. Their mission is to assist women who are unable to cover the cost of saving their eggs when faced with the possibility of infertility due to chemotherapy, specifically in the treatment of breast cancer.
The event was co-Chaired by Tia Walker, Peggie Walker, Bo Concept Owner Shaokao Cheng and Emma Snowdon-Jones. Other notable attendees included Estelle, BJ Coleman, Michael Musto, Candi Lynn, To-Tam and To-Nya Sachika, Allison Parris, Christine Marchuska, Dr. Robert and Susan Korwin, Justine McCarthy and Tamara York. Sponsors included Self Magazine, Dr. Rey's Shapewear, Votre Vu Snap Dragon Beauty Beverage, and Desserts by Tawny Ong. If you would like to help with canine related cancers, there are several resources available. Luke Robinson and his two dogs Hudson and Murphy recently passed through New York on their walk from Austin to Boston to help raise cancer awareness. They are currently trekking through Connecticut, but will soon be arriving in Boston where they will be holding a benefit at the end of June. For those interested in supporting their cause, you can donate directly at 2dogs2000miles.org. You also have until May 31 to donate the American Cancer Society’s Bark for Life, which is raising funds to cure cancer in both humans and canines.
