The Gordon Parks Foundation held their annual awards dinner and silent auction on June 3, 2014 celebrating the arts. The event took place at Cipriani Wall Street, located at 55 Wall Street in New York City. Some of the celebrity guests that attended the event were Chelsea Clinton, two of the co-chairs Alicia Keys and her husband Kaseem "Swizz Beatz" Dean; journalist Soledad O'Brien, fashion designer Vera Wang, filmmaker George Lucas and his wife Mellody Hobson, New York Knick Amare Stoudemire, Sports Illustrated model Chrissy Teigen, and many more.
The Gordon Parks Foundation preserves the works of Gordon Parks and makes it available to the public through, exhibitions and books electronic media. It supports the artistic and educational activities. This year's honorees were fashion designer Vera Wang, who was introduced by Chelsea Clinton. George Lucas and Mellody Hobson were presented the first Gordon Parks Patron of Arts Award. Grammy Award-winning American Jazz trumpeter and bandleader Irvin Mayfield, who was introduced by Soledad O'Brien; artist and photographer Lorna Simpson was introduced by Leslie Parks (Gordon Parks' daughter); and filmmaker Ed Zwick was introduced by Adam Gopnik.
Some of the other notable guests in attendance were one of the Tuskegee Airman Roscoe Brown, scholar Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr.; journalist Gayle King; Singer/actor Andrew Rannells; singer Adrienne Bailon; Global brand President for Estee Lauder Companies, Veronique Gabai-Pinsky; and President of Dolce & Gabbana USA Inc, Federica Marchionni.
