I know I updated these lists less than a month ago,but the Winter Olympics are taking place in Sochi, Russia, and a number of its competitors are following a gluten-free diet. Many of these Olympians are talking about their diet (some have celiac disease) and how it affects training for their sport, so 'gluten' is a hot topic.

The connection between the gluten-free diet and celiac disease isn't always clear and it is important to note that the gluten-free diet is the only 'cure' for those diagnosed with this autoimmune disease. I would also like to point out that these athletes are striving in their respective sports while following a gluten-free diet.

This Sochi edition features all of the Olympic athletes I have discovered (I am sure there are many more) who are following a gluten-free diet. I also included Jon Stewart's wife and son, who have celiac disease and were diagnosed by Dr. Peter Greene.

Athletes who eat gluten free by choice:

Andy Murray has been removed from the list because according to this article, he stopped eating gluten free when he lost too much weight and strength.

Do you think celebrities/athletes talking about the gluten-free diet benefits or hurts those who eat gluten-free for medical reasons?
