Celebrations, egg hunts herald Easter Bunny's arrival

Although it may snow this week, the first sign of spring is hopping into South Jersey malls this week.

Voorhees Town Center will be where the Easter Bunny will get his grand welcome Saturday morning starting at 11 with a family parade to Macy's Court. Thanks to some artistic help from the children in the mall's Kids' Klub, the court will be a Butterfly Garden to make the bunny feel at home.

After the parade to 1 p.m., children will get to enjoy crafts, games, face painting and a balloon artist. The Easter Bunny will also start photo sitting availability after his arrival.

Meanwhile, at the Deptford Mall, there will be another celebration for the bunny's arrival from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. This celebration will include crafts, balloon art, face painting, treats, magic tricks, games and prizes.

The Easter Bunny will be available for photo sittings at the Cherry Hill Mall, Cumberland Mall and Moorestown Mall starting Friday, March 8. Families can visit at these malls and Voorhees Town Center between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday or between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sundays. The bunny's last day at all malls is March 30.

Next week, Peter Rabbit will help reopen Johnson's Corner Farm in Medford. He will meet families visiting the farm for non-competitive Egghunt Hayrides starting March 15. Hayrides leave every 20 minutes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends and Good Friday and at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays. The farm is closed on Easter Sunday.

UPDATE: Johnson's Corner Farm will open a day early to celebrate Pi Day on March 14. Discounts will be available on a variety of pies.

Egghunt hayrides are $7.95 for each egg hunter, $3.50 for each non-hunter. The hunt includes hopping games, the ability to find five eggs, meet the bunny and get a bag of candy. Parents should bring their camera for photo opportunities with the bunny.

Springdale Farms in Cherry Hill will also reopen March 15, but will start their Easter Egg Hunt Hayrides March 23.

Easter is March 31 this year.
