'Celebration of Women and Their Music' back for 13th year


‘Celebration of Women and Their Music’ is an annual event looked forward to in the Fargo-Moorhead arts and music communies.The music festival’s founder, DebJenkins, website explains: “Over the years the show has featured regional women performing a variety of musical genres from popular to classical. Each year brings newcomers to the stage as well as select returning favorites from previous years in a celebration of the talent and artistic camaraderie of women in the Fargo-Moorhead region.”

2010 marks year 13 for CWTM, a non-profit music event. As in previous years, pre-shows will take place around Downtown Fargo, leading up to the main show at the Fargo Theatre, Saturday, Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m. Click here for more information on pre-show events.

This year’s line up includes Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles, Ann Reed, Chastity Brown, Haley Rydell, Emily Holt, Kristin Kitko, Nita Velo, Deb Jenkins and Rosemary Sauvageau. Student admission is $10; general admission is $15. Free post-show events will be held at the Silver Moon Supper Club and the Aquarium.

According to the official press release: “The money raised at this event goes towards continuing this event and to an endowment fund established with the F-M Area Foundation. The endowment helps fund an annual scholarship awarded to one or more local high school female artists to go toward the school she will attend. The 13th annual Young Woman in the Arts Award will be presented during the concert and the show will feature a performance by the recipient.”
