Celebrating Valentine's Day this year will be a little tricky with all the bitter cold and snow that has cast a spell on Chicago. Fortunately, Chicago neighborhoods and parks offer a good variety of Valentine's Day events without the long travel time that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Here are six fun filled Valentine's Day events happening in the neighborhood.

On the top of the list is Harry Carey's Tavern at Navy Pier, where the fun never stops. Starting on Monday, February 10, 2014 till Sunday, February 16 the kids are invited to decorate their own heart-shaped cookies with colored frosting and candy for only three dollars per cookie. Also throughout the week they will be featuring Build – Your – Own Heart-Shaped Pizza for $13 that includes a selection of up to three toppings. Similar events will be happening at all the Harry Carey's throughout the city and suburbs. For reservations call 312-828-0966.

St. Viator Parent Association will sponsor the Be My Valentine Dance on Friday, February 14th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the St. Viator Rec Center, 3644 N. Kedvale, Chicago. It will be a evening of DJ music and dance, Valentine sweets & punch, 50/50 raffle and the tradition Cake Walk. Tickets are $10 per person. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Mayfair Park Advisory Council (MPAC), will host Concessions and photo op at the Mayfair Park annual Family Valentine's Day Dance, Friday, Feb 14, from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., at Mayfair Park, Auditorium, 4550 W. Sunnyside Ave., Chicago. The dance fee is $5.00 with a separate fee for photo op. It is open to all ages and registration is required.

The Valentine's Day Dance at Marquette Park, 6734 S. Kedzie Ave., Chicago, in the Marquette Gymnasium 1, will be the place to be on Friday, February 14, 2014 from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. It is said to be the coolest, and fun teen connection dance around. The dance fee is $2.00, open to all ages and registration is required.

Armour Square Park Chicago, 3309 S. Shields Ave., Chicago, will host Family Hearts and Crafts at Armour Square on Friday, February 14 from 3:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. Kids of all ages are invited to enjoy a few hours of art craft projects for Valentine's Day. The fee is $10 and registration is required.

Portage Park, 4100 N Long Ave Chicago, will host their annual Valentine Bash on Friday, February 14 from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. The Horner Park Jazz Band will provide live music for this family evening. Fee is $5, open to all ages and registration is required.
