Following on from my article on great value sparkling wines for New Year's Eve, a sparkling rosé wine can make an extra extravagant celebration.
Here are some recommendations for great value rosé sparkling wines to add a romantic touch to your evening:
Chandon NV Rosé, Napa Valley, California $33
This 100% Pint Noir sparkler is made in the traditional method but still Pinot Noir is added to the base wine at tirage, which creates a deeper colour and structure to this wine than Blanc de Noirs.
Santa Digna Estelado Rosé $24.50
Chosen for two consecutive years as the Best Sparkling Wine of Chile by Annual Wines of Chile, Estelada Rosé is a Fair Trade wine made from the indigenous “País” grape, and has won awards all over the world since its debut only three years ago.
Canella Rosé - $21
From Conegliano, north of Venice, this pale salmon 100% Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) sparkling wine was made as a surprise Christmas gift to the Canella family by their wine consultant about 6 years ago. They all loved it so much that they decided to produce it commercially.
Louis Bouillot NV Rosé Brut, Cremant de Bourgogne, France $19
Domaine Louis Bouillot, of Nuits-Saint-Georges in Burgundy, have been specialising in producing traditional method sparkling wines since 1877. A blend of 80% Pinot Noir & 20% Gamay, this wine ferments in the bottle for at least 24 months, far past the legal requirement of 9 months.
