The University of California Riverside & its' department of dance presents, “Indigenous Choreographers at Riverside.” It will run from April 29 to May 2, 2014 at the UC Riverside campus. Four dance choreographers will be spotlighted & they include, Rulan Tangen, Daystar/Rosalie Jones, Rosy Simas & Jack Gray. It will be hosted by Jacqueline Shea Murphy of the UC-R department of dance. It is free to the public & everyone is welcome to celebrate dance.

  • Tuesday April 29, 2014 at 2 to 3:30 pm / Indigenous dance workshop by Rulan Tangen. / Dance Studio, Arts 100. Free - Open to campus and interested others with RSVP.

  • Tuesday April 29, 2014 at 4 to 6 p.m. / Activating Indigenous Dance Now / Welcoming event for Indigenous Choreographers at Riverside. / Performances and interactive discussions around sustaining creative ecologies of Indigenous dance in contemporary locations, including the University. / Performance Lab, Arts 166. Free - Open to the public. Reception to follow.

  • Wednesday April 30, 2014 at 2 to 3 p.m. / Ceremonial donation of 'Dancing Earth' Archive by Rulan Tangen.

  • To the UCR Special Collections Library. Special guest: Choreographer Daystar/Rosalie Jones. / Tomás Rivera Library - Costo Room, Special Collections, 4th Floor. Free - Open to the public.

  • Thursday May 1, 2014 at 2 to 3:30 p.m. / Screening and discussion of 'Allegory of the Cranes' by Daystar/Rosalie Jones. Screening Room, INTS 1128. / Free - Open to campus and interested others with RSVP.
