Christmas is the most ardently embraced and enthusiastically celebrated season by the world.
Christmas is not only a commemoration of an historical event and a celebration of belief but it is a celebration of a human event, an encounter with Jesus’ humanity. At Christmas we celebrate God’s presence among us.
Christmas celebrates the meaning of the experience of being human: pain and pleasure, agony and ecstasy, dying and rising to new life. Christmas banishes forever any dark notion we may have that God is apart from us. God is among and within us as a guest in our hearts.
The great gift of Christmas is the gift of God’s presence with us. We rejoice in the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The Word Made Flesh, living here in our presence. Because of this gift, we know that we are not alone, that God has entered into our lives and shares them with us.
Faith, hope and love; that is what Christmas is about.
John 3:16-17 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."
Merry Christmas to all!
