Celebrate Youth Art Month in Monroe

March is National Youth Art Month and is sponsored by the Council for Art Education, Inc. The purpose of this month-long celebration is to bring to light and awareness of the value of art education for all children. It is also a way to encourage support for quality art programs in the schools. National Youth Art Month has several national sponsors, such as crayola, that have an amazing collection of printables, activities, ideas, and lesson plans.

One of the major events of  National Youth Art Month is the flag design contest. Flags are designed by children in all states and the winners meet in Washington DC for a ceremony.

The Georgia Art Education Association has several resource links and contests running to encourage children to express themselves through art.

Here in Monroe, the Monroe Art Guild is celebrating with its Annual Walton County Student Art Show. This year the show will display the elementary schools artwork from March 3 - March 24 and the Middle/High Schools will show March 30 - April 28.

The Art show is free and open to the public and a fantastic outing for the family. It is the perfect opportunity to get a little creative spark and see what masterpieces your kids can create!
