Celebrate your marriage

Did you miss it? Jesus' first public miracle is a wedding feast. The God of the Universe chose to manifest himself in a public celebration of people having fun. Is there anything more real? Does that tell you something about the love of God for people?

It is the best wine I ever tasted.” Can you imagine the chief steward here in town reacting? “I still don't understand why they served it last.” (Adaptation: John 2:1-10)

Is a wedding ceremony necessary? young people ask.

The wedding ceremony acknowledges the marriage blessing from God; bonds the husband and wife and their future children; commits the extended family and the local church; and is the foundation to the area community and the society. Marriage does not involve just two people, but many.

He who finds a wife finds a good thing,
And obtains favor from the LORD (Prov 18:22 NKJ).

The scriptures show God's divine volition, purpose, and blessing in marriage. The ancient biblical peoples celebrated marriage as a significant social and religious event. Most of the world's nations and cultures recognize and express the wedding ceremony.

The wedding ceremony defines and protects the marriage bond publicly before God and mankind.

v4 Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge (Heb 13:4).

Ultimately, God invites us all to the greatest wedding in the universe, the eternal marriage of Jesus, the Lamb, to his beautiful bride, the people of God. We are all invited!

v7 Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” 8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. 9 Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God” (Rev 19:7-9 NKJ).

Blessed are those invited to celebrate the eternal wedding!

What a true gift an extended family and the word can bring to your life. What greater foundation than the word of GOD!
