There’s a lot to celebrate with your doggie in 2014 in the seaside village of Morro Bay. This picture-perfect location is always the ideal place to bring your pet. Bliss went with me on a girlfriends getaway to the Morro Bay Community Garage Sale and we had a great time! Be sure to bring your pooch next year. Morro Bay’s 50th Celebration
The City of Morro Bay is celebrating a significant milestone this year, reaching 50 years of incorporation. The official 50th Celebration for Morro Bay is called “Landmark & Legacy,” and invites the community and visitors to celebrate all year long by joining in a number of events and activities from historic bike tours to a Founders Day Community Picnic. There are also special anniversary deals at local hotels, restaurants, and shops where visitors can spend like it's 1964.

5th Annual B'qued Oyster & Beer Feast, May 12
Tognazzini’s Dockside Too, 1235 Embarcadero Street
Your four legged family member is invited to watch you enjoy fresh Morro Bay oysters -- and beer for those of legal drinking age! Just $20 gets you a 1/2 dozen B’qued oysters and a pitcher of beer, along with free hot dogs and sodas for the kids. Guests will enjoy live music and a live auction with all proceeds going towards fireworks for Morro Bay’s 4th of July event. The party starts at 1 p.m. and goes until dark.

Memorial Day Art in the Park, May 24-26
Bring your pup and join with the Morro Bay Community as they celebrate local art and artists. This free event is open to everyone. Attendees will have the opportunity to see art in action and purchase beautiful, local art. The event takes place at Morro Bay City Park and runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. all three days.

California Healey Week at Morro Bay, May 28-June 1
This year, the California Healey Association celebrates its 40th anniversary by returning to its first annual event location in Morro Bay. The primary reason for CHW is to gather together Austin Healey enthusiasts and celebrate these classic sports cars.

Morro Bay Music Festival, June 7
Morro Bay Harbor Festivals, Inc. announces the return of the Morro Bay Music Festival featuring all local talent. Participating performers include: “Back Bay Bettie,” “Lou Mars,” and “Chicago Mike Swanberg.” The remaining lineup will be announced soon. Attendees can also enjoy local food, wine, and beer throughout the event from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Morro Bay 4th, July 4
You will want to leave your pup at one of the local boarding facilities as you celebrate your independence all day long with Morro Bay’s unique 4th of July event. Activities take place all over Morro Bay and include a skateboard race, live music, a bike parade, and children’s games. The culminates with a huge fireworks show over the bay hosted in Tideland’s Park. Local food and beverage vendors will be onsite to fix your appetite needs. Events are throughout the day from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

July 4th Weekend Art in the Park, July 4, 5 & 6, 2014
You can bring your pup with you to this free event. Attendees will witness art created live, and have the opportunity to purchase beautiful works of art made by fine local artists. The event takes place at Morro Bay City Park and runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. all three days.

45th Annual Rock to Pier Run, July 12
This event is held entirely on the beach from Morro Rock to the Cayucos Pier and is open to participants of all ages and abilities. Registration begins May 5, 2014. Proceeds from this event are for Morro Bay Recreation and Parks’ Youth Sports programs. The registration fee ($50-$70) will include a performance t-shirt, finisher’s medal, aid stations and breakfast back at the Rock.

44th Annual F-100 North-South Run, August 16
The 44th Annual F-100 North-South Run to Morro Bay in 2014 takes place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Tidelands Park. Visitors will enjoy viewing classic F-100 trucks in this picturesque setting where you’ll have the chance to meet the truck owners and ask questions. Put on by Pickups Limited of Southern California and Ford F-100 Elite of Northern California.

Labor Day Weekend Art in the Park, August 30-September 1
Bring your dog and join with the Morro Bay Community as they celebrate local art and artists. This free event is open to everyone. Attendees will have the opportunity to see art in action and purchase beautiful, local art. The event takes place at Morro Bay City Park and runs from 10 a.m. t0 5 p.m. all three days.

Avocado & Margarita Festival, September 13-14
Enjoy the BEST California avocados in all variations of culinary delights as well as refreshing margaritas, beer, specialty foods, live entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, and the beautiful Embarcadero in Morro Bay. You could win a year’s supply of avocados! The event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Sunset Savor the Central Coast, September 25-28
Foodies will want to join the finale of San Luis Obispo County wine month by attending Sunset Savor the Central Coast. Canine foodies will have to stay at the pet friendly hotel while their humans attend one of the many Adventure Tours taking place throughout the County from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday and Friday. On Thursday evening, attend a special dinner event at Hearst Castle. Visitors won’t want to miss the main event taking place between 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday featuring local wine, beer, and cuisine. Your Morro Bay host will help plan your perfect wine weekend.

33rd Annual Morro Bay Harbor Festival, October 4-5
The 33rd Annual Morro Bay Harbor Festival is one of the premier events on California’s spectacular Central Coast. Taste the freshest seafood straight off the boat at the popular Commercial Fishermen’s BBQ and sample wine and beer from many of our local boutique wineries and craft breweries in our incredible Seafood, Beer and Wine Court. Bring the kids and be delighted by the many interactive activities. The festival takes place on the Embarcadero, just before you approach Morro Rock. Admission is $8 and gets you into the festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
