Celebrate watersports and other outdoor recreation close to home

The U. S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC) in Charlotte, North Carolina is hosting a series of daily outdoor activities and watersports throughout the summer. Some of these events include Mountain Biking, Flatwater Kayaking, Stand-Up Paddle Boarding, Family Kayaking, Adventure Rafting and Rodeo Rafting.

Grab your friends and your running shoes for a quick pre-River Jam trail run at the U.S. National Whitewater Center. Every Thursday, May through September, we invite runners of all ages and skill levels to come together as a group to run through the USNWC trail system before enjoying our live River Jam show.

Sample a variety of American craft beers at the 3rd annual Brew Stash Bash on Saturday, June 14. This festival invites guests to both taste and learn about our favorite craft brews while enjoying live music performances throughout the day. The festivities will kick off at 11:30 a.m. with the Brew Dash, a 6K that winds throughout the USNWC trail system.

Celebrate America’s birthday with us during our annual 4th of July Festival, a two-day celebration taking place on July 3rd and July 4th. Both days will feature live music, as well as fireworks over our man-made whitewater river. Every seat is a good seat to view the stunning fireworks display, but we recommend guests arrive early to pick a spot.

Our 3rd annual Build Your Own Boat competition takes over as its own festival this year on Saturday, August 2. Whether you build your own or provide moral support, the race of homemade crafts down our Competition Channel is entertaining for everyone. The festival will kick off with our 2nd annual Amphibious Duathlon at 8 a.m., followed by the BYOB competition and live music.

Spend your Labor Day weekend at the USNWC as we celebrate with an all-day festival on Sunday, August 31. The day begins with 5K and 15K trail races in the morning, followed by food, drink and live music performances throughout the day. The festival will wrap up with a stunning display of fireworks over our man-made whitewater river after the sun sets.

Charlyhorse is what Americana Music has always strived to be. A group of outstanding musicians and modern day troubadours who weave tales of small southern towns and the roads they have traveled. Vivid stories in sound, populated by trailer-park queens, hellfire preachers, shuttered cotton mills and down-home philosophers. The music of Charlyhorse is firmly anchored in the Americana roots tradition. Influences from rock, country, bluegrass, R&B and soul gives each tune its own unique feel.

When Mark Stutso, master of the deep groove, joined The Nighthawks at the beginning of 2010, the 21st-century version of the legendary American roots band was complete. With Paul Bell and Johnny Castle in the band for nearly a decade, and founding father Mark Wenner the remaining original, this team outshines all previous incarnations.
