Celebrate Washington Wine Month at Seattle's Pan Pacific Hotel (Photos)

If you need a good reason to fly up to Seattle for an escape from Los Angeles, the Pan Pacific has just the right excuse. The hotel is celebrating Washington Wine Month with extended happy hour every Tuesday in March at its Lobby Bar featuring Sip Northwest Magazine and an all-star lineup of local winemakers.

The Tuesday tastings run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and offer tipplers a change to meet and greet the winemaker, taste selection from acclaimed vintners and munch on locally-sourced appetizers. There’s also special happy hour offerings from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Guests that fall in love with a particular tasting will be able to purchase full glasses and bottles onsite as well.

Featured winemakers include

  • March 5 – William Church Winery winemaker Marcus Rafanelli. This winery specializes in robust reds that have depth and character, and currently offers limited productions of a Yakima Valley Syrah, a varietal Malbec, a red wine blend called Bishop's Blend, a Syrah/Cabernet blend called 2 Spires, a premium Cabernet Sauvignon, Sur La Mer Bordeaux blend and a flagship Viognier.
  • March 12 – Sleight of Hand Cellars co-owner and winemaker Trey Busch. Launched in 2007, this winery focuses on crafting exceptional wines from exceptional vineyards in Wash., and offers the first and only wine club for “screw-offs” and “cork pullers.”
  • March 19 – Treveri Cellars winemaker Christian Grieb. Treveri Cellars is a family-owned sparkling wine house. Since its opening in 2010, Treveri wine has been served at White House State Department receptions and the James Beard Foundation in New York.
  • March 26 – Sonoris Wines owner and winemaker Hilary Sjolund. In addition to crafting wine, Hilary teaches an online winemaking program run through Missouri State University as well as enology and winemaking theory for Lake Washington Tech. Sonoris Wines is all about wines with concentration, age-ability and a complete, round mouth-feel.
