Lots and lots of fun, family-friendly winter activities are in store for those Clevelanders who are willing to venture to Bowling Green, Ohio to attend the college town's annual WinterFest on Friday, February 15 through Sunday, February 17. It is approximately a 2 hour drive from Cleveland to Bowling Green.
Bowling Green WinterFest Taking place at various venues in downtown Bowling Green, WinterFest is offering more than 30 events for visitors to enjoy that should appeal to all ages. Free activities include public ice skating each day, a synchronized skating competition, carriage rides, public curling, a cornhole tournament and Kids' Snow Games on Saturday, 12:30 - 2 p.m. at City Park.
The Fest will feature an Ice Garden (at Huntington Court Yard) with ice carving demonstrations and an interactive photo area and a Shivers and Smores Scavenger Hunt taking place at Wintergarden Nature Preserve (on Sunday at 2 p.m.) There will also be plenty of free musical entertainment.
Sports enthusiasts will enjoy the Teen Dodgeball Tournament on Saturday and the BGSU Stroh Center OHSAA Wrestling Tournament on Saturday and Sunday. And don't miss the BG Parks & Rec's Frostbite Run.
Food activities include Saturday's Chili & Soup Cook-Off (noon - 2 p.m.) at the Vet Building at City Park as well as the Pancake Breakfast at BG High School on Saturday and the fundraiser Spaghetti Dinner on Sunday at the BGSU Ice Arena Lounge from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Check out the Sandwich Stroll taking place at various downtown restaurants on Sunday from noon- 4 p.m.
Hours for the WinterFest are 4 p.m. - 10 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free.
