Do you know what a pork rind is? (It's the skin of a pig that can be roasted or fried and combined with fat to create a tasty snack). Did you know that Ohio holds a festival annually to honor the mighty pork rind? Well, now you do and if you happen to be a fan of the food then you might want to check out the 26th annual Pork Rind Heritage Festival being held in Harrod, Ohio on Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14.

Pork Rind Heritage Festival Presented by the city of Harrod and Rudolph Foods Company, the Pork Rind Heritage Festival will give visitors a chance to learn how many tasty ways a pork rind can be prepared, eat freshly popped pork rinds and even enjoy a hog roast.

Interesting​ Fact About Pork Rinds To prepare pork rinds as a snack, they are first rendered and dried and then fried and puffed.

Attractions at the Pork Rind Heritage Festival include a Vietnam Helicopter and Tank on display, a 1905 Shay engine, a wood chainsaw carver giving demonstrations, a Weird Wild Animal Show a Princess pageant and a kiddie tractor pull. There will also be a a Cruise-In Car Show on Saturday (1 p.m.- 4 p.m.).

Activities include corn hole, a photo booth and mechanical bull rides.

The big Pork Rind Festival Parade will take place on Saturday, June 14 starting at noon.

The Festival will also feature lots of free musical entertainment including a concert by Clark Manson & Band (Country) on Friday evening and a concert by Brother Believe Me (Rock 'N Roll) on Saturday evening.

Be sure to check out the Chili Cook-Off on Friday night and you can attend an All-You- Can Eat Pancake and Sausage Breakfast on Saturday morning for $7 per person.

In addition to pork rinds, other food available at the Festival include tenderloins, BBQ pork and chicken, ice cream and kettle corn. There will also be a Beer Garden for adults.

Hours for the Pork Rind Heritage Festival are 5 p.m. - 11 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is free and parking is free.

The Pork Rind Heritage Festival takes place in downtown Harrod, Ohio. Harrod is 167 miles from Cleveland and it is approximately a 2 hour, 50 minute drive.
