Fifty actors, dancers, and musicians join the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance ensemble this December for a string of celebratory performances to put audiences in the holiday mood. It starts this Friday (6 December) with a showtime at 7:30p and runs each weekend until Christmas (22 December).

The show, titled “Granny Dances To A Holiday Drum,” fuses together a multitude of world cultures by way of music, dance, and spoken word.
The ensemble, led by executive artistic director Cleo Parker Robinson, has been around since the 1970s, and is revered as “one of America's foremost modern dance companies.” Rooted in worldwide dance traditions and inspired by African American heritage, the ensemble drives to create performances beyond culture, class, and age. They rise above the human condition and reveal the complexities intertwined within us all.
“Granny Dances To A Holiday Drum” is hosted at the Robert and Jude Newman Center, part of the University of Denver. Tickets can be purchased at the Newman Center Box Office (2344 E Iliff Ave) Monday-Friday, 10a-4p (Saturdays 12-4p) or online.
