Today is a special holiday for approximately thirty-four percent of American households. Today, and every year on October 29 is the day our nation celebrates "National Cat Day”.
Cats are lots of fun. They provide unconditional love towards their owners on their own terms. What that means is – cats are finicky. If they want attention they will let you know, if they want to be alone they will, no doubt about it.
Even though cats sleep somewhere around 10-14 hours a day they do tend to get around the house and into things when you least expect it. The can be quite active at night and sometimes when you wake in the morning there are tell-tale signs they have gotten into things they shouldn’t have.
Imagine spending time sorting papers on your desk into categories and stack them neatly. If you don’t put some sort of paper weight on those stacks there is a good chance those sheets of paper may just wind up scattered on the floor.
Every cat owner has stories to tell. Many are quite funny and others may make one shake their heads.
One of the best cat toys according to the feline is an empty cardboard box. The next is a bunch of balled up packing paper on the floor. The hours they spend jumping in and out, hiding and springing themselves out in the air, at another cat in the house or just curling up to sleep what they think is a new and exciting place.
Quote by Charles Dickens:
“What greater gift than the love of a cat?”
In 2005 “National Cat Day” was established by Colleen Paige. Colleen is a pet lifestyle expert as well as an animal welfare advocate. She believes cats provide pure companionship and unconditional love. It is her wish that if you don’t already share your life with a cat make a donation to save one from a shelter or take some time out of your busy schedule to do some volunteer work at an animal shelter.
What fun stories do you have to share about your pet cats and kittens?
It is the number one purrfect ways to show that you care!
