Have you looked around lately to marvel at the wonders of your surroundings? The Earth is a wonderful place, and on Earth Day this April 22nd, it’s a time to celebrate that with one of the many events taking place around Chicago.
Tomorrow the 5k for Earth Day will take place in Humboldt Park with a Green Living Expo at the Humboldt Park boat house. Runners can register for the race from 7:00 to 7:40 a.m. tomorrow for $35.
The free expo will include music, food, vendors and shopping, family entertainment and environmental education.
Events will also be taking place throughout the suburbs. In Oak Park, Earth Fest will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Public Works Center. Included in the event will be composting and organic gardening consultations, recycled art projects for kids, canning demonstrations, energy efficiency tips and more.
In Wheaton, the 23rd Annual Recycling Extravaganza will also take place tomorrow. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the commuter parking lot at Carlton and Liberty will have drive-through stations for everything from old clothes to scrap metal.
