The British Open begins today and runs through July 19th at Turnberry Resort in South Ayrshire, Scotland. What better way to get into the golf mode than to get out your plaid tablecloth and host an elegant Scottish Cocktail party!
Scotch Salmon Dip served with Assorted Water Crackers and Hot House Cucumbers
Ingredients
- 2 ounces of Scotch Salmon
- 1 shallot
- 1 package of Cream Cheese (I like Philadelphia Brand)
- 1/2 cup Sour Cream (I like Daisy Brand)
- 1 tsp. light cream
- 2 tbs. capers
- 1 tbs. dry dill weed
- 1 tbs. fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce ( I like Lea & Perrins Brand)
- cracked black pepper
- Hot House Cucumber, sliced on the bias
Directions
- Add all ingredients to small food processor (I absolutely love my Cuisinart- mini)
- Pulse several times to incorporate ingredients
- Serve in dish with assorted crackers and cucumber slices
Macallan Whiskey and Water
Ingredients
- Macallan Whisky
- Water
- Ice
Directions
- Add ice to a low ball glass. (I like 3 "rocks")
- Add 3.5 ounces of whiskey to glass
- Add .5 ounces water to whiskey

Advice for a beautiful cheese board
Include regional Scottish Cheeses like Cheddar, Blue and Brie found at upscale markets such as:
Fairway, Plainview, Grace's Marketplace, Greenvale; Southdown Market, Huntington; Citarella in the Hamptons. Talk to your cheese monger for advice and tastes!
Assorted Links served with Coleman's Mustard
Ingredients
- 6 Chicken Sausage with Apples (I Like al fresco brand found at Waldbaums, Pathmark, King Kullen and Stop and Shop's)
- 1 tbs. olive oil
- 2 tbs. apple cider vinegar
Directions
- Heat cast iron skillet on medium high heat
- Add olive oil
- Place chicken sausages in pan and brown all over
- Add 2 tbs. vinegar to pan, cover and cook for 5 more minutes
- Remove cover and sausages to cutting board
- Allow sausages to rest for 5 minutes and cut on the bias
- Add toothpicks and serve with Coleman's Mustard

Earl Grey Tea (I like The Republic of Tea- Earl Greyer)
Ingredients
- Boiling Water
- One tea bag per cup
- Milk
Directions
- When the water reaches a rolling boil, pour over the tea bag and infuse for two to four minutes.
- Enjoy with a spot of milk!
