The Golden State of Cocktails conference on January 27-30, 2014 will mark the debut of California’s first annual, premiere cocktail celebration led by an advisory board of prolific personalities within the cocktail community. The four-day conference and festival is designed to both educate and celebrate with events including specialty themed seminars, interactive demonstrations, evening bar crawls, and a grand finale party, reinforcing California’s role as a premier cocktail destination on the global stage. The Golden State of Cocktails will serve as a hands-on trade show, ceremony and festival for members of the industry and media, curated by an advisory board of experts.

“California is home to both a rich cocktail history—from the Moscow Mule to the Tiki genre—and some of the most acclaimed bar programs in the country right now,” said Cedd Moses of 213 Ventures. “From San Diego to San Francisco, California bars have won the top three categories in the last two years at Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards including Rickhouse, the Varnish and the Slanted Door, reflecting the breadth of our homegrown talent. The Golden State of Cocktails strives to celebrate and expand this role as a leader in the industry.”

The historic Los Angeles Times building, with Mid-Century modern era bars, office spaces, event rooms and panoramic views of the City of Angels, will host over 100 educational gatherings led by some of the best innovators and tastemakers in the cocktail industry. The first of its kind at any cocktail conference, the educational component will focus on hands-on, experiential demonstrations, including take away stations, a Golden State bar and lounge, brand immersion and labs.

The Golden State of Cocktails will lead a tasting tour on January 27 & January 28 of bespoke bar crawls focusing on the Hollywood/Silver Lake and Downtown Los Angeles. Each night will include 6-10 bar destinations featuring guest bartenders, special tastings/pairings and entertainment. The Grand Finale Party presented in partnership with the Los Angeles Times, the evening of January 30 marks the conference’s finale fete and ultimate tribute to the Golden State hosted at the iconic Union Station. Consumers and industry will unite to experience the best of what California has to offer with signature cocktails and food from the areas celebrated bars, restaurants, bartenders and chefs.
