Saturday is May 1st.  What better way to ring in the month than by venturing to some kid-friendly and educational activities happening throughout the state this weekend!


May 1 - Mystic
Amphibian Monitoring Project Training - Mystic Aquarium, 55 Coogan Blvd.
Leap into action and attend the family-friendly training session. Help collect data on local frog, toad and salamander populations throughout the late spring and summer, using amphibian vocalizations and sightings. Data is collected monthly at Bluff Point State Park and Pequot Woods in Groton and a conservation site at the aquarium. The data is sent to the Department of Environmental Protection for year-to-year monitoring and analysis on how the numbers are indicative of environmental conditions and change.3:30 to 6:30 PM Free. May 1 - New Haven
Open Farm Day - Meet Baby Chicks. Common Ground, 358 Springside Avenue.
Did you know that not all chicks are yellow? Visit to the farm and meet our mother hens and their new baby chicks. May 2 Middlebury
Annual Egg Hunt at Quassy Amusement Park! (rescheduled from April 25 rainout)
The egg hunt is part of the Greater Waterbury Campership Fund opening weekend Quassy stages each spring to help send underprivileged children to summer camp. Children ages 6 to 13 collect candy and search for plastic prize eggs in the Great Lawn area of the park. Top prizes in the lawn egg hunt include bicycles and MP3 players. Youngsters are reminded to bring their own bags to collect candy and eggs. 3 PM

May 2 - Milford
The Milford Harbor Duck Race! Fowler Field Rotary Pavilion. Food, fun, entertainment, giveaways and thousands of adorable rubber ducks! 10 am - 4 pm including a Family Fun Run at 11 am, a Corporate Duck Race at 12 noon and our signature Milford Harbor Duck Race at 1 pm.
