Snow and snowflakes are sure sign winter is here. Snowflakes are joined ice crystals that develop from tiny frozen water droplets in the upper atmosphere. As they fall through the atmosphere, they form into different shapes and sizes, due to temperature and humidity changes.
On January 22, 2012, the Irvine Nature Center celebrates snowflakes from 2pm to 3:30pm. Join one of the centers naturalists for snowflake bingo, played as you take a nature hike. Later, meet inside to create your own snowflake. Admission is free for members and $5.00 for non-members. It is open to all ages.
