Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts (MCCLA) is hosting Celebrate! San Francisco from September 8 to October 9, 2010. To celebrate the life and culture that make the City unique, the exhibit is a gallery-based pilot project that highlights how local contemporary artists and social inventors are making tangible new visions and strategies.

Curated by emael, the exhibit addresses two questions: How are San Franciscans celebrating the human experience during uncertain and crisis-laden times?; and what local innovations/best practices are being developed in communities and industries that can be replicated on a broader scale?

Exhibition participants include: Angela Angel and Robin David, Michael Arcega,
Karen Brasier, Robert Burnside, Rosie Byers, Angelis Candler & Jazmin Jones (Digital Pathways, BAVC's NextGen Program), Tân Khánh Cao, Susan Cervantes and Rafael Sanhueza-Leni, Ilana Crispi and Raymond Madarang, Darren de Leon, Toan Lam, Go Inspire Go, Jane Martin, Plant*SF, Mike L. Miller, The Bubble Project, Derrick Miller-Handley, David Molina and Susana Valdez, Juanita MORE!, Ellen Murland, Diego Pacheco, Virgo Paraiso and Tino Rodriguez, Marilyn Yu, Zineblasters.

A variety of events are organized throughout the duration of the exhibition, ranging from interactive family events celebrating local, organic food and performers, to a fashion crawl with local designers and vintage retailers, and evening performances of live soundtrack and film.
