Celebrate Record Store Day tomorrow 4/17

If you’re looking for something to do tomorrow as well as celebrate music in one of the best ways possible, be sure to be a part of Record Store Day which will be happening all around the Chicagoland area. Independent record stores at every corner will be carrying LPs, 12”’s, and 7”’s of content exclusively released for the celebration of the event that happens once a year.

In 2007, Record Store Day was put together by independent record store employee Chris Brown with the sole mission to join together record stores throughout the country to praise the art of music. Happening the third Saturday of April every year since then, artists, labels, and record stores align to release rare promotional products specifically for the celebration. Hundreds of artists from across the globe plan appearances or performances for the event, with other festivities including everything from cookouts to parades.

Just a sample of some the exclusive content you can purchase include:

Blur – “Fool Day” 7”, the bands first new single in seven years

Deftones – “Rocket Skates” / “Rocket Skates (M83 Remix)” 7”, the bands new single and single remix.

Joe Strummer & The MescalerosGlobal A Go-Go & Streetcore 12”, a reissue of both albums on vinyl for the first time.

MGMT – “Siberian Breaks” 10”, single-sided disc with 12-minute track

Queens of the Stone Age Feel Good Hit of the Summer EP, previously unreleased in the US

Soundgarden – “Hunted Down” 7”, reissue of translucent vinyl.

SP20: Casual Nostalgia Fest CD, a Sub Pop compilation of performances from the labels 20th anniversary show.
