It is easy for Tucsonans to forget that President's Day is a federal holiday, since most Tucson schools do not have the day off and instead the Rodeo is the big (and longer!) holiday weekend in Tucson. Having school on this day does, however, offer a great opportunity for learning experiences about the Presidents, but even if your kids teachers do not take the opportunity you can do celebrate at home and learn about the Presidents with some crafts and coloring activities.
Abraham Lincoln Toilet Paper Roll Craft - This is fun to use as a puppet to act out reciting the Gettysburg address.
George Washington Toilet Paper Roll Craft - This craft is a fun way to then act out stories about George Washington.
Mini Presidential Portraits - This is a cool way to make a $1 or $5 bill to be a mini portrait of Lincoln or Washington. Do not worry, it is just folding and the money is not ruined.
Mount Rushmore Coloring Page - Color the monument that not only features Lincoln and Washington, but also Thomas Jefferson and Theodore Roosevelt.
Washington and Lincoln Finger Puppets - These are also fun for acting out stories about the Presidents.
