It is almost time for us to say goodbye to 2013 and hello to 2014. Huntsville has been named in the top three places to celebrate New Years Day in the world, so it is no surprise that there are many ways to celebrate the New Year here.
Municipal celebrations of New Years 2014
Huntsville has a ball drop on New Years in Big Spring Park, courtesy of Terrame's Day Spa. Prior to the ball drop, there is also a 5k Run with proceeds benefiting Hayes Nature Preserve. For more information about either the ball drop or the 5k Run, call (256) 650-7063. Also at Big Spring Park is the Ice Skating Rink, which will be open until 1 a.m. on New Years Day morning.
Parties for New Years 2014
Amendment XXI will be having a New Years Eve party at their location on the North Side Square in Huntsville (across from the courthouse) complete with VIP tickets available. Lake Guntersville State Park Lodge will have a party featuring music from "Chasing Chad". Straight To Ale will have a Funky New Years Eve Celebration at their Leeman Ferry Road location. Huntsville Marriott will have a Fabulous Roaring 20s New Years Eve Party at their U.S. Space and Rocket Center location.
Precautions for New Years 2014
Please be a responsible person--do not drink and drive. Please appoint a designated driver, or call a taxi cab to get home safely. Also, please don't text and drive--no message is worth your life. Also, if you go through a checkpoint, please remember to have driver's license, vehicle registration, and insurance information available for review by the officers.
Huntsville is ready to celebrate 2014. Happy New Year, Huntsville!
