Celebrate National Parks and Recreation month on the West Orange Trail

Incase you were not aware; July is National Parks and Recreation month.  What better time to get out and enjoy your local Winter Garden Parks and Recreation amenities?  Why not begin by dusting off your bike, hoping on board and taking the West Orange Trail.  The Winter Garden Station is located at 455 E. Plant Street, and it is a wonderful place to begin your journey.  Don’t let not having your own bike stop you from getting in on the fun. Bikes can be rented at the Winter Garden Station, as well as the Killarney and Apopka Stations.

With 22 miles of trail, the West Orange Trail is the largest of the three trails located in Central Florida.  The trail begins at Killarney Station on Old State Road 50, and runs through downtown Winter Garden and into North Apopka.  The trail includes several parks, which are called “stations” and five “outposts”, so you have plenty of opportunities to stop for a break, restrooms or a drink of water.   The station and outpost amenities vary based on location, so you will want to check out the West Orange Trail map for amenity details.  For a link to the recently updated West Orange Trail map, click here

Chapin Station is the main office for the West Orange Trail, and is a wonderful place to visit with your family.  Chapin Station is located at 501 Crown Point Cross Road in Winter Garden.  It has a great playground, tennis and basketball courts, as well as a garden area sponsored by the Bloom and Grow Society.  Other highlights of riding the West Orange Trail include riding past the Clarcona Horseman Park, riding through the heart of Downtown Winter Garden, as well as the butterfly garden at the Tildenville Outpost.
