The Corner Office in Denver, CO, offers The Jackie Oh!, a sweet, slightly floral pink cocktail with a punch. Cheeky Corner Office mixologists named this margarita after the former first lady because, “Jackie, like the drink, appears feminine, but as it turns out, is pretty ballsy too.” Ingredients include Sauza Blue Tequila, Cointreau, hibiscus syrup, and lime juice. It is served shaken on the rocks with a salted rim.
Downtown Portland dinerant, The Original, makes a signature ‘Rita Margarita, inspired in part by the actress Rita Hayworth. Bartender Lee Watson makes “The 'Rita” with Leyenda del Milagro Blanco, a 100 percent blue agave Tequila known for its citrusy notes and it’s slight peppery bite. Watson then adds the juice from freshly squeezed limes, handcrafted housemade Triple Sec (made from grain alcohol, sugar and orange zest), as well as a dash of Saint Germain elderflower liqueur. The cocktail is then mixed, poured over ice, and sprayed with a spritz of restaurant’s housemade soda Orange Flower Water. For the rim, Watson dips the glass in agave nectar, and dips just a crescent of the rim’s circumference in Maldon salt, before garnishing the drink with an origami-like, flower-shaped candied orange rind.
Finally, Sage’s Temple Downtown in Providence, has created the El Diablo Verde, made with muddled jalapenos, Patron Reposado, freshly squeezed lime juice, and topped off with Grand Marnier.
