Celebrate National Blondie Brownie Day on January 22 (Photos)

Celebrate today with a great treat.

January 22 is National Blondie Brownie Day.

It might be hard to think of blond and brown being in the same name. So, what is a blondie brownie?

A blondie is a rich, sweet dessert bar. It is made from flour, brown sugar, butter, eggs, baking powder, and vanilla, and may also contain walnuts or pecans. Chocolate chip blondies may contain white or dark chocolate chips. A blondie may have a taste reminiscent of butterscotch.

Blondies may look like the traditional chocolate brownie, but there is a good reason why they don't taste the same.

Blondies are made with brown sugar. Brownies are made with chocolate. Blondies are often called blondie brownies. Blondies are baked in a pan in the oven similar to how traditional brownies are baked, then cut into rectangular shapes for serving.

Do not mistake blondies for white chocolate brownies. They are highly different. Blondies are unlike the white chocolate brownie or the normal brownie because blondies contain no chocolate or chocolate flavoring. However, chocolate chips are often put in blondies.

Blondies may also contain coconut, nuts, toffee, or any other chunky candy for added texture. Blondies aren't usually frosted because the brown sugar flavor tends to be sweet enough.

Enjoy blondie today! Brownies don't count.
