Memorial Day weekend represents the start of the summer for many, with outdoor barbecues, pool openings and warmer temperatures signaling the unofficial transition to a new season. And with all of the outdoor activities taking place, it's the perfect time to celebrate with your furry friend. This weekend in Burlington, there will be plenty of options for those looking to enjoy Memorial Day alongside their pets:
- Farmers' Market - Every Saturday from 8:30AM to 2PM, you can find a plethora of offerings from local vendors, including farmers, chefs, artisans and more, on the town square. People are encouraged to bring their pets along, and many vendors have free treats and fresh water available.
- KeyBank City Marathon - This race, held annually for the last 22 years, takes place on Sunday, May 30th, and covers a course that loops through the best parts of Burlington. Spectators are welcome, and so are their animal sidekicks! Many local retailers offer free cowbells for use in cheering on the participants - perfect for Fido's collar!
- Burlington's Waterfront Bike Path - Dogs are welcomed on this 7.6 mile recreational route that runs from the southern end of Burlington at Oakledge Park to the northern end at the Winooski River, where it connects to the Colchester Bike Path via the bike path bridge. The path also borders two off-leash dog parks where you can take a break to let your pet mingle with other friendly pooches.
- Church Street Marketplace - At the heart of the city, Burlington's famous outdoor retail & dining center welcomes animals and their owners alike. In addition to various pet-friendly retail establishments, many of the restaurants welcome pets in their outside seating areas.
Whatever you decide to do, the weather looks to be perfect for you and your pets to enjoy your time outdoors in Burlington. Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!
