Celebrate Mardi Gras with good food

Mardi Gras, less commonly known as Fat Tuesday, is this Tuesday, and Chicago just may be the best place to celebrate this year, that is if you’re looking to celebrate the eating portion of it.

The Sun-Times recently reported that AAA has awarded five Chicago restaurants with their top honor “Five Diamond Award,” tying the Windy City with New York for being the two cities that have the most restaurants with that honor in North America. Restaurants with the award include Charlie Trotter’s, Alinea, Arun’s, Everest and Tru.

It also happens to be the 5th Annual Chicago Restaurant Week during Mardi Gras this year. Chicago Restaurant Week features about 265 participating restaurants with $22 lunch and $33 or $44 dinner prix fixe menus. This is a great time to try a new restaurant for a great price.

Some of the restaurants participating in the week include the upscale burger and wine bar 25 Degrees, the fondue friendly Melting Pot, the Contemporary American Naha and the Italian restaurant Gioco. If you decide to go a non-participating restaurant for Mardi Gras, you can still participate in Chicago Restaurant Week through February 26.

So leave the beads in New Orleans and celebrate Mardi Gras with Chicago restaurants.
