Let the good times roll! Head over to The Original Farmer's Market for their 24th annual Mardi Gras celebration. Forget about Bourbon Street. The fun begins with E.B.'s Rajun Cajun Dance Party at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2013 on the West Patio and continues until 8 p.m. on Sunday, February 10th.
Bring Fido! The Mutti Gras Pet Parade and Costume Contest with Three Dog Bakery kicks off the party in the Plaza at noon on Saturday, February 9, 2013. The best dressed male and female pooches will be crowned King and Queen of Mutti Gras and graced with prizes. Register your dog in the appropriate category (Small: up to 20 lbs., Medium: 20 lbs. - 40 lbs., Large: over 40 lbs.) at the Three Dog Bakery (stall 710), or call 323.935.7512.
The New Orleans Traditional Jazz Band will stroll around, making you think you're in Louisiana. Kids can decorate king and queen crowns or have their face painted from 1 - 4 p.m. The Bluecat Express will play live from 2-4 p.m. in the Plaza. Over in the West Patio, Jimbo Ross & The Bodacious Bayou Boogie Band take the stage from 3 - 5 p.m. Lisa Haley & The Zydekats follow from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Hungry for more? Purchase authentic gumbo or jambalaya from The Gumbo Pot, and down some dixie beer from E. B.'s Beer and Wine.
Sunday is loaded with more live music, starting with Porterhouse Bob from noon until 2 p.m. in the Plaza. The 2nd Line Saviour's Parade Band will stroll around the Farmer's Market from 1 - 4 p.m. Kids can make Mardi Gras shakers or have their face painted from 1 - 4 p.m. T-Lou & His Super Hot Zydeco Band are slated to steam up the West Patio from 2 - 4 p.m., while the Critical Brass Band commandeers the Plaza from 3 - 5 p.m. Eddie Baytos & The Nervis Bros close down the West Patio from 5 - 8 p.m.
Get ready to catch some beads!
