On Wednesday, March 13, 2013, Barcelona Wine Bar in West Hartford hosts "La Vendimia de Mendoza" beginning at 7:00 pm. As they explain, "During the first weeks of March, the city of Mendoza celebrates the upcoming grape harvest in their largest festival of the year." At Barcelona, enjoy a three-course dinner that homage to this convivial holiday with a traditional Argentine asado paired with several Mendoza wines. The cost per person is $45, not including tax or gratuity.
The menu is as follows:
- Introductory drink of 2011 Viognier, Pie de Palo, Maipu.
- First course: Ensalada (salad of arugula, quinoa, piquillo peppers, with lemon vinaigrette) and Tajarines con Ragu (hand-cut pasta covered with beef & pork ragu, rosemary, and parmigiano), paired with 2011 Bonarda, Familia Mayol, Vista Flores and 2011 Malbec, Earth First, Organically Grown, Lujan de Cuyo.
- Second course: Argentine Asado of rabbit, baby-back ribs, and churrasco with chimichurri de rosario, paired with 2007 Malbec, Roberto Bonfanti, Alpha Gran Reserva, Perdriel and 2007 Cabernet/Malbec, Antucura, Gran Vin, Vista Flores.
- Third course: Deconstructed alfajores, sugar cookies, Dulce de Leche, and chocolate Budino paired with 2008 Malbec, Late Harvest, Susana Balbo, Lujan de Cuyo
