Celebrate Hollywood fashions at a special Edith Head exhibit

Hollywood film buffs, especially those who love movie fashions and costumes will not want to miss the special "Designing Woman: Edith Head at Paramount 1924-1967" exhibit celebrating the legendary, award-winning film fashion designer being held at the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio in Lancaster, Ohio from now through August 17.

A Bit About Edith Head With a career spanning 60 years, Edith Head spent 43 years at Paramount Studios and worked on over 1000 films including musicals, dramas, comedies and westerns. She was nominated for 35 Academy Awards and won 8 Oscars, a record that still stands today. Her Academy Award wins include "All About Eve" (1951), "A Place in the Sun" (1952), "Roman Holiday" (1954), "Sabrina" (1955) and "The Sting" (1974). Edith Head died in 1981.

Designing Woman: Edith Head Paying tribute to one of the most recognizable names in Hollywood film fashion history, this special exhibit focuses on a cross section of the design work done by Edith Head at Paramount Studios between 1937 and 1967. Apparel showcased in this exhibit include evening gowns, tailored suits, performance costumes, day wear, Victorian ensembles and even medieval attire.

Visitors to the exhibit will be able to tour four galleries filled with Head's collection including one showing elements of her workroom complete with boxes filled with original thread, trim and steam irons.

This is only the second time that the Edith Head collection has left Hollywood so be sure to pay a visit while you have the chance to see this unique collection of Hollywood movie fashion history.

Hours for the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio are 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday and 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. on Sunday. The Center is closed on Monday. Admission is free.
