Halloween is a great excuse for the whole family to have fun together. It doesn't matter how old the members of your family may be this fall holiday brings out the kid in everyone. This weekend use one of these eeriely easy ideas to haunt up a good time.
Do some decorating together. You can decide if you are going to be scary or cute, fallish or goulish. Just keep it simple. An orange tablecloth with a few little pumpkins in the center can dress up your table in no time. Sprinkle some plastic spiders and candy corn around the pumpkins to go the extra mile. If you want a scary twist add some battery operated candles and turn off the lights. Remember you are going for just a little atmosphere. Less is more.
Host a classic monster movie marathon. Once again with all the choices out there you can do Scooby Doo or American Werewolf in London depending on your family's personality. The old black and white movies can be really fun. Some ideas to consider from the sublime to the terrifying.

Everyone gets a costume. Dressing up is fun for everyone. Why should only the kids get to be someone else for a day? Whether you are handing out candy, going to a party or traipsing around the neighborhood wear a costume. You can keep it simple using some things from the back of your closet or the thrift store. How many parents still have some fashions from their teens still hanging around? Pull it out and put it on. If that isn't an option, you can instantly be a superhero or a monster by adding a cape to your outfit. Check out Goodwill for a funky hat and a whole new character will emerge.
Pumpkin carving contest. Put your family into teams and see who can come up with the funniest, creepiest, neatest pumpkin carving design. You can get a few pumpkins at one of the roadside stands or a farmer's market, such as Allentown Farmer's Market or Leesport Farmer's Market and let the creativity go wild. After dark set them outside with tea lights and enjoy!
Enjoy fall snacks - Halloween is traditionally known for candy but why not use it as an excuse to enjoy some wonderful fall snacks. Pumpkin roll, spiced cider, chili, powdered sugar donuts, caramel apples are all great suggestions.
